Well, I'm at a complete loss of words for today. I expected the Northern Plains to go big, and man did they prove me wrong...they went historic. There were multiple supercells at the start of the day, but one took over the show in elite fashion. 13 tornadoes were captured on camera, with multiple more probably wrapped in rain due to the HP-ish nature of the storm. I witnessed 3 wedges, 3 elephant trunks, and a time where there were 4-5 tornadoes on the ground at the same time. All of this was witnessed over a 3 hour period while only driving 10 miles. This is definitely the chase of a lifetime. I don't think anything I will see in my lifetime will match up to this day.
At one point, a violent tornado came within 50 yards of ripping a small town apart, but fortunately most of the buildings were spared. We met a family whose house was completely destroyed which was an experience beyond words. I will never forget the look on the lady's face.
I'll post a more detailed report later on, my thoughts are just way too scattered right now to write anything that makes sense.
