Updated Tally for 2010 & 2011 Updates

After post-season analysis from Roger Hill and other parties, it has been determined I was fortunate to observe a final tally of 57 tornadoes during the 2010 season.  Granted most of these were observed on the tour with Roger Hill, 42 to be exact, it is just a measure of how lucky I was to observe so many different types of tornado events.  I am very grateful for the experiences I had during the 2010 season - I just hope that this once-in-a-lifetime number doesn't phase me from enjoying my future seasons as much.

Putting the 2010 season in the past and looking to the future the 2011 season witholds is as much of a stimulant as it is a depressant.  Although the 2011 season holds a potential for much more promising results due to the fact that I am now not a 100% amateur (just a 99.99% one), it also brings a much higher stress level than the previously mentioned 2010 season.  Due to the fact that I have been wait listed by not only my dream college but also the only college I have applied to, my future past this season will always be on my mind.  In addition, a job and balancing chasing with my social life and girlfriend will prove to be a challenge.  That being said, I am looking at the 2011 season from an optimistic standpoint.  I recently purchased new gear including the Canon EOS 60D which will turn my pesimism regarding my low image quality into newly found optimism.  Not only will there be more gear to use in the field, but I will also have more time in general to go chasing should my job and social life oblige.  Being that it is my second semester of senior year, my school schedule will be more flexible.

With this new time on my hands, I have been setting myself up with a few friends I can go chasing with on most occasions.  Still, if anybody is willing to let me tag along on some of the longer chases I would appreciate it.  I can pitch on gas, housing, etc. and can drive on the way to the target area assuming I will not be trusted with in-chase driving.  I also have Baron's, GPS, and GRLevel3 to contribute to the set-up.

On a final note I will be attending the annual ChaserCon so I will probably see most of you there.

Good luck to everybody in preparations for the upcoming season and I hope to see you all out there when it finally arrives!

Ben
